A piata is a container, usually made from papier-mch, cardboard, or fabric, that’s crammed with sweet and different small toys. Piatas are sometimes adorned with colourful paper or cloth and are suspended from a rope or wire. Individuals take turns hitting the piata with a stick or bat till it breaks open and the contents spill out.
Big piatas are a preferred attraction at events and festivals. They’re usually used as a strategy to rejoice particular events, corresponding to birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Big piatas will also be used as a strategy to promote companies or merchandise.
